Custom Guitar Build
A quarantine project with my brother turned an old Stratocaster into a custom koi pond-inspired guitar using woodworking, sketching, and watercolor.
This was a collaborative project with my brother. We started with a beat up old black and white strata-caster and a good chunk of time during quarantine. We were inspired by Japanese gardens and koi ponds. My brother sanded down the guitar to its bare bones, reshaped the body, and started sketching. My brother sketched the koi fish on the front and through trial and error we discovered a way to use watercolor paint on the wooden base. I sketched the scene on the back and painted the front and back of the guitar. He completed the guitar with a new neck, inlay cherry blossom stickers and brand new electronics.
